We got a message from the parents of Charley, telling us that it was on her bucket list to meet us.. so we invited her and her family to breakfast in Hamilton!! There was a piano just outside the café so we had to sing her a song... even if it was 9am! Find the video on the link below:
"About a year ago, we were watching the rugby on TV with a very grumpy Charley at our side - until Sol3Mio came on singing the national anthem... Unlike when the woman just prior sang the opposition's anthem, suddenly, Charley quietened and became smiley. This was most unusual - she seemed mesmerised by the boy's music. We hadn't seen her do anything quite like it before. We re-ran the footage - both of the woman and then the boys - and the same thing happened! From then on, Charley has spent countless happy hours listening to Sol3Mio
So that's when we decided Sol3Mio needed to be added to Charley's Bucket List. We put the word out, and were helped by Donna Fleming, the writer of the boy's biography recently. Donna organised with their manager Res for us to all attend their Hamilton concert on March 12th. Unfortunately we couldn't quite get there, as Charley's mum and baby brother were late flying in from overseas that day, so we were invited to have breakfast with them the next morning instead!!!
For a full two hours over breakfast, Pene, Amitai and Moses chatted with us, sharing laughs and travel stories and listening to the story of Charley's life so far. After cuddles and kisses with all the boys, Charley's brother Zak pointed out the piano out on the footpath (Hamilton has a few of these for public use) and we all went out for the main event - the serenade! Being out on the street meant a few lucky onlookers were able to share the experience, but for the boys and Charley's family, the focus went completely on just one little girl... The love and care they showed Charley was so deeply touching. As well as being incredibly talented, these lads are truly gentlemen, each clearly with a huge heart that bought Charley's mum to tears. We gave them each a wee crystal Angel as a keepsake and told them to remember Charley when they see the light shining off them.
We played the video to Charley once we got home and got the quietening again, and then the biggest smiles! We will treasure these moments forever.
Thanks again Moses, Pene and Amitai, and your team, from the bottom of our hearts."

WATCH: A first-hand account of what it’s like for families living in hardship as they send their kids back to school. We visited the Waikato with Tristram Clayton and saw Kihikihi School in Te Awamutu, who talked with us about the challenges of hungry tummies and making a little money stretch a long way.
Together, we are making a difference for 114,000 children, but 1,661 children are still waiting. Help us spread the word that for 50c a day, caring Kiwis like you can help provide a child with the basics they need.

Sometime's we're lucky enough to help out truly amazing people like Jan, whose 2-year-old son died.
Jan has handmade three grave markers for her boy, but as beautiful as they are... she would love something more permanent to hold up to Taranaki weather conditions and for when she's no longer around to make them.
Thanks to Stone & Glass Creations NZ, who are going to work with her to make a special (and permanent) memorial worth $4,000 for her son 💕🙌
