Behold, my gluten-free Chocolate Mud Cake. I kid you not - there's a whole king-size block of chocolate in it. It's fudgy, decadent and horribly moreish. Enjoy: http://chelseawinter.co.nz/gluten-free-chocolate-cake/ (Help a GF pal out, tag them in).

There's nothing quite like a good colonoscopy to start the week:
So I spent my morning having a colonoscopy. I'd noticed a few symptoms which could have been nothing but could have been something, and because my dad died of bowel cancer, I decided it was best to get my colon looked at by someone who knows what a good colon looks like.
All was fine, which is nice for me, but it also seemed like a good time to remind everyone out there that bowel cancer is a killer, but it doesn't have to be. If you catch it in time it's a very treatable cancer.
So how terrible is a colonoscopy?
The worst bit is the stuff you have to drink the night before to clear out your colon. That stuff is amazingly efficient and you do spend quite a bit of time on the loo. I began today with the cleanest colon I've had in a very long time.
The procedure itself is nothing. You get some completely amazing drugs and then you doze through the whole thing. In fact it was actually a super relaxing experience - which is a weird thing to say when you think about the fact it's actually someone inserting a small camera up your arse.
And just so you know... these are the symptoms you need to get checked:
- Bleeding from the bottom (rectal bleeding) without any obvious reason. - Or if you have other symptoms such as straining, soreness, lumps and itchiness. - A persistent change in bowel habit going to the toilet more often or experiencing looser stools for several weeks - Abdominal pain especially if severe. - Any lumps or mass in your tummy. - Weight loss and tiredness (a symptom of anaemia).
Don't wait. Don't put it off. Get it checked. There's loads more info at the beat bowel cancer NZ website.
1 NEWS reporter Kim Savage is the first journalist to go this far north on SH1 along the coast of Kaikoura since Monday's massive quake. She just found this absolutely obliterated stretch where the road shot up more than 4 metres.
Next week, we move house and l say goodbye to my beloved little kitchen. Believe it not, it's here that I've created, tested & shot all the recipes for my three (and a half) cookbooks. It's compact but it's got real heart, and I know it like the back of my hand. *sigh*. It's been fun, kitchy. Together, we made deliciousness.
We want to get the word out there,.... we now deliver all your fresh weekly groceries! Would you like to win $100 worth of our amazingly fresh vegetables, restaurant quality meat and loads of goodies from local producers? This is the TV event I've been looking forward to for over a year... the Cul de Sac... and it's on tonight, TV2, at 6pm.
This is a fantastic new family drama I've been waiting over a year to see. I read the script for the first episode and then stopped because I wanted to see it live on television with no spoilers.
But I really need your help... please share this post and let's try and drum up some support for unique, world-class NZ drama. If we do then they'll get a second season and we all get cool stuff to watch on telly.
And I've got genuine skin in the game on this one because the second season will be co-produced by Ruckus, my new production company (more on that later). So if you've ever wanted to help me in some small way, then please share this post, and get a buzz going.
Make no mistake though, I don't want a second season just because it would be with Ruckus, I want a second season because I desperately want to see Season two of the Cul de Sac, and I also desperately want to see quality NZ drama like this finding it's way back onto all of our screens.
How awesome would that be?
Click like. Click Share... then see you tonight at 6pm, TV2.
