Anton Kuraia told us of his remarkable story on SUNDAY in November 2014.
Just 15 months earlier at the age of just 43, the father of three was told that his cancer was too aggressive and he should go home and say goodbye to his young family. He was given just 4-8 weeks to live. Anton overhauled his diet and lifestyle and 10 weeks later, against all the odds, was still alive. Better still, the Leukemia had gone into remission. Anton credited his recovery to his change in lifestyle and in intravenous Vitamin C.
February 2015 and Anton started another epic journey. He started the 809 Foundation. 809… that’s how many kilometers he would walk from Whangarei to Wellington to raise awareness and funds for cancer survivors who had come out of the hospital system looking to try something different.
Sadly, Anton’s life journey ended this week. His cancer returned in April and again told he would only last another month at most. Again he beat the odds and had one more summer with his family.

To the person that took my black box from the truck on Wednesday can you please bring it back. It has so many personal things(letters, old diaries, old photos, old song lyrics, alot of random things that have sentimental value)things that mean alot to me, i call it my box of memories, it was my place to go to every now and then to escape and remember moments in my life while growing. It means nothing and has no value to you, it just looked like it had expensive shit in there, we'll it aint worth a dollar to you but it means a lot to me. Please bring it back!
This month we're celebrating whānau; the ones who hold your hand for hours when you're sick and cheer you on when you donate blood. First up, meet Lesley and Garry, who together have saved up to 150 lives and are on a mission to get their friends and family to save lives too. Will you join them in spreading the word?
#throwbackthursday So before I tell you all about my new book ;) I'd like to ask about an old one. It's 20 years since I published The Best of Annabel Langbein: Great Food for Busy Lives and I've lost count of how many times we reprinted it. I'd love to hear if you've got it on your bookshelf, which recipes you've cooked and what your favourites are – do share!
