Remember this beauty, Manurewa Molly?? Well Rewa is now a year old and is loving her new home on the North Shore. She was adopted by two police staff members and we are told she has firmly placed herself as the boss of the two dogs she lives with 😀🐱 #pawlicecat
Make a fun curious substance that feels like both a liquid and a solid. Pour a cup or two of cornflour into a bowl. Gradually add water and food colouring until you have a gloopy mixture. Let your toddler plunge their hands into the bowl. Pick up some of the gloop yourself and squeeze it. Note that as you apply pressure, it feels like a solid. Relax your hand and the gloop will run back into the bowl as a liquid.
Talk to your toddler about what they can feel as the two of you play. This activity is a little messy, but it's definitely worth it.
A big thanks to Mark Gee from The Art of Night for sharing this day to night timelapse. He shot this recently on the Canon 6D over 13 hours at Cape Palliser. His patience and attention to detail were definitely rewarded!
If you would like to try this yourself, here is a tutorial to get you started: http://bit.ly/1p8l8PJ
Prime Minister Bill English is fond of calling out-of-work New Zealanders lazy and drug addicted. Here's a question for him - what does he call the 4000 people who applied for 26 WorkSafe positions around the country? We call them people trying to get a job to feed themselves and their families. An applicant who received the reject email said he was stunned by the sheer numbers applying. It’s depressing for a job seeker. Read more on the blog here: http://bit.ly/2l9148k
My absolute favorite moment of the day is when Havana wakes in the morning. Her big sisters race in there and unzip her from her sleep sack and give her a million kisses. Bubba is so warm and snugly from the night and she gives everyone the biggest smiles ever and giggles away. Can't be a bad day when it always starts with that👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻💖💖💖
"Dear KidsCan I just thought I would share a story. This morning I saw one of the children I treat regularly for head lice, lovely little girl around 7, she was walking funny and it turned out her shoes were far too small, after I treated her hair we went to the office to get some new shoes and sorted lunch as she only had a yogurt for the whole day. The smile on her face was heart warming she went back to class nit free with shoes on that fit so she could walk properly and knowing that at lunchtime she would have food to eat. All from KidsCan. Very awesome moment to be part of."
This message is from one of our many Health Champions who are in schools every week checking and treating children for head lice.
