Today's affirmation that can help you in many ways 💞
I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition 💞💜💖❤️
Wow, breastfeeding is thirsty and hungry work! So to keep me going, I'm making lots of these Lactation cookies (can anyone think of a more attractive name for them?) and Fennel and honey milk drinks - and in between Bodhi napping I've even managed to write them up for you! Here they are...share with any mums or mums-to-be! :) https://nadialim.com/recipe/lactation-cookies/ https://nadialim.com/recipe/hot-fennel-honey-milk-drink/
I visited Norway this week to be the keynote speaker at the Business for Peace Awards in Oslo City Hall. Business for Peace promotes inclusivee and sustainable business - which is music to my ears. This year's honorees from Kenya, Lebanon, and Norway are all committed to these principles. I also met with Crown Prince Haakon of Norway for the formal renewal of his service as a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador. His Royal Highness will focus on promoting Sustainable Development Goal One on poverty eradication. Here's my speech at the awards: http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=53844#.VyxmdE32bIU
This fantastic initiative: It's a home for men who've been ordered out of their own homes by police, offering counselling and accommodation. Open for a year, 100 men have now been through the house and a study has found 93 of them haven't reoffended. #WorkingTogetherToEndViolence
Before you can live a part of you has to die. You have to let go of what could have been, how you should have acted and what you wish you would have said differently. You have to accept that you can’t change the past experiences, opinions of others at that moment in time or outcomes from their choices or yours. When you finally recognize that truth then you will understand the true meaning of forgiveness of yourself and others. From this point you will finally be free 💞💜💖

Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future 💞💜💖 Sometimes it's the smallest decisions that can change your life forever 💞😇💖
The decision to stay or leave the EU was always a matter for voters in the UK and we respect the decision they have made.
We will continue to have a strong relationship with both the EU and the UK, and to further develop our ties with both. In this respect nothing has changed.
The UK remains a member of the EU for the moment and it will take some time to work through the implications of their decision to leave.
In terms of our existing trade arrangements, the immediate effects of the leave vote on New Zealand are likely to be limited and we expect that trade and other business activities will continue smoothly in the interim.
We remain committed to the launch of formal negotiations on an EU FTA, and will be working with the UK as they go through the process of leaving the EU to put in place new trading arrangements.
Nothing like a good cheese scone! My famous recipe is so easy and even quicker when I keep the flour, salt and grated cheese mix in the freezer ready to add the liquid. I combine 2 1/2 cups self-raising flour, 1 tsp salt and 2 1/2 cups grated tasty cheese then today I mixed in 1 cup each of creme fraiche and natural yoghurt (you can use all yoghurt or buttermilk but I just used what I had at hand). The mix should be soft and sticky but hold its shape when scooped. I used a quarter cup measure as scoop for these. Bake at 200C / 400F for about 15 mins until golden. Serve warm with butter for a classic Kiwi morning tea.
Today my friend Annette announced that she was would like to leave Parliament in September. She was quick to remind us all that she's 'mid career' and won't be very far away, but I still feel a huge loss. She has dedicated much of her working life to the Labour Party, which means she's spent a lot of years in a hard job trying to make the world just a little bit better - and she has. I worked with her on children's issues and I saw how much she cared about issues like child health and well being. But she's also one of those people who looks out for you, and isn't just worried about your work life, she wants to make sure you're happy too. I'm proud to have called Annette a colleague, but I am lucky to have her as a friend. Thank you for everything Annette x
