THE NZ GOVERNMENT ARE ASKING US TO KILL PUPS like gorgeous Dogo Casper! Yesterday plans were announced to stop shelters from rehoming any classified dogs. Wow what an archaic measure...a blanket cleansing! In fact the whole proposal is off balance in our view. We fully support desexing dogs, YES PLEASE, but how about instead of putting all this effort into only enforcing the desexing of classified dogs, they turn that idea around and desex all dogs...make people apply to have undesexed dogs...why not? We are a country in trouble, we are drowning in unwanted pups and poorly cared for dogs! We love that the government recognizes dogs need to be set up to succeed and that robust fencing allowing visitors a dog free entry point into the home, and overall education around good ownership is key to keeping them safe. But we will not agree to kill innocent dogs and pups, we do not agree that no classified dog should not be allowed a second chance. We do not agree that sweet intelligent dogs like Casper (now 2years old and just as gorgeous!) will have their future taken away based on breed, nor that dogs classified by deed will be robbed of any hope too. In our experience it is most likely poor ownership and being kept isolated from learning manners and boundaries in a family dynamic that has set them up to fail. Change the environment and you'll change the dog...we see it every day. As with people, dogs are individuals and it is crazy and tragic to judge them and kill them on mass....but seriously, what is the government thinking ???! The SPCA have posted a petition that we hope you will sign and share! Come on HUHA Community, together we have a voice xx https://www.change.org/p/the-new-zealand-government-join-spca-s-fight-to-save-innocent-lives?recruiter=486244954&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
Our farmers are up at #431AM kick starting the country but that’s not all that they get up to. We came across Mark McDonald’s impressive rural artwork today. We are keen to know how many other rural artists are out there. Tag someone you know who is handy with a paintbrush or camera! #431AM
