Tonight was a big night in the #NextSG campaign, with Al Jazeera broadcasting a candidate debate live from the UN General Assembly auditorium. I was pleased to take part, set out my vision, and respond to a wide range of questions. Here's Newshub's assessment of how it went., together with video of all my responses to questions. Thanks to all who attend and all who watched arounnd the world! #Helen4SG http://www.newshub.co.nz/world/un-debate---how-did-helen-clark-and-her-fellow-candidates-rate-2016071314?ref=newshubFB#axzz4EFrDEml4

Students are shackled to saving hard to pay back their loans. This will change under NZ First. They will be able to “pay” back the debt by staying in NZ and working in their skill area. Their loan is reduced for each year they work. Only one party cares about young Kiwis and their future. We cannot continue to load students up with financial debt. It is unsustainable. The financial, social and personal cost is too high. We have a comprehensive tertiary education policy. Read more about the policy at:
With The Warehouse's Elves on Shelves campaign, you can Drop a gift off at your local Warehouse any time in December. They will make sure it's delivered to one of the many tamariki in our care across the country.

Hope everyone is having a nice Xmas day. Don't get caught up in the hype too much... it is, when all is said and done, just another day. It doesn't have to be perfect, in fact for most of us it isn't. So just chill, and let the day be what the day is.
As for me, I'm done for the year, I'm checking out now until January and heading off for some adventures with my family.
Next year is stacking up to be pretty huge. We've got a really cool new series kicking off at the beginning of the year, and a huge live television event later in the year which is going to be kind of like The Hard Stuff, but this time everyone in the country gets to be part of the series, every single night. It's going to be epic on a scale NZ telly has never seen before. All that and we'll also be launching our online parenting videos as well.
Have a safe, imperfect, very human holiday... filled with nice moments, frustrating events, trying times, and if you're very lucky, a new memory or two.
